Abuse or Violence in the Relationship

Abuse can be physical, sexual or emotional. It can end in death, but often it just doesn't end until death. It is violent on any level.

Three things are clear about resolving violence:

  • You end it; or
  • You die with it.
  • You choose.

24-7 Help can help you manage your emotions while you get help to resolve the violence. We are not about to try to help you end the violence; we can't do that.

We are glad to assist you with emotional management. However, if you think that getting your feelings under better management will somehow give you the tools to "fix" a dangerous relationship, you are wrong—and you may wind up dead wrong. Further, if you think 24-7 Help can somehow assess or otherwise figure out that you are in a violent relationship and that you need help, get this straight: Nobody can do that! The best kept secrets in the universe are held by families who live in violence.

You don't have to guess. You don't have to lose your marriage or your family. You don't have to live this way. Talk to one of these agencies:

  1. The Police.
  2. The Women's Shelter.
  3. Child Protective Service.
  4. If you are eligible for military services, call Family Advocacy at any military base; or call Military One Source: 1-800-342-9647.

This Web site is not adequate to help you determine whether there is violence in your relationship. We can't help you determine if you need help. But you don't need us for that, you need one of the agencies listed above.

24-7 Help can help you manage your emotions so you can more effectively use help from qualified sources.

Not all violence or maltreatment in a family is life threatening. But it is all threatening. Not all family maltreatment ends in destroyed lives, but maltreatment always hurts.

You don't have to end your marriage because of violence; you can end the violence because of your marriage.

If you are suffering violence in your family you don't have to kill someone to end it. You can get help. Call one of the agencies above. Your priest, minister, or rabbi may be your best resource. They likely help people with these issues quite often.
